DYSON MUMBA

ASSISTANT DIRECTOR OF PROGRAMS- MANGOCHI, MALAWI

I was born to two parents who were peasant farmers. Growing up, our family relied solely on agriculture as a source of income. I was the 5th born of seven children.

I attended primary school at Chizimia F.P School in Mzimba, a district in Northern Malawi. Being born in a poor family it was not easy to afford three meals on a day such that most days I would go to school on an empty stomach.

School came with many challenges as my parents could not pay school fees on time. I often had to rely on well-wishers to lend my parents money to cover the fees. However, I persevered and managed to complete my secondary eduction in 2002.

In 2005 I enrolled for a Diploma in Sales and Marketing Management with the Association of Business Managers and Administrators (ABMA) and received my diploma with a higher credit. Though my diploma was in Sales and Marketing, I never found a marketing job. Instead I found a position as hotel receptionist at Makokola hotel in Mangochi before joining Utawaleza farm as a Farm Supervisor in 2008. For the past 16 years I have been heavily involved in agriculture.

I am married to a beautiful woman named Tiwonge and together we were blessed with three boys. Iā€™m a devoted Christian who congregates at the church of Central Africa Presbyterian CCAP in Mangochi.
