Mayeso Mwale

Assistant Director, Mangochi, Malawi

I am the last born child of a family of four children. I come from the central region of Malawi, the capital city of Lilongwe.

I completed my primary and secondary education in Lilongwe at Chowo and Lilongwe Girls Secondary School, respectively. After secondary education I pursued my tertiary education at a private college called Blantyre Business College where I studied Travel and Tourism. I was awarded a Diploma in Front Office Management (Receptionist) after completion.

I am a Receptionist by profession and as such I’ve been engaged in several hospitality industries. However, the tourism industry has its own challenges, particularly for women. Many guests think that all the workers in the hotel industry are not self-controlled, and therefore as a women you find many male guests trying to engage in sexual relations with female staff. After experiencing this inappropriate and lewd behavior on a number of occasions, I decided to quit the industry.

She is the last born in the family and married to Hudson Mwale whom she tied knot with in 2011.

I first joined RiseUp Malawi as a volunteer with the passion to help the organisation fulfill its goals because Hudson (RiseUp Malawi’s in-country Director) is my husband and I wanted to help support him in his efforts on the ground. I helped him primarily with conducting free, after school computer lessons to the youth to enhance their studies and help them not engage in immoral behaviours. In October 2018, I was hired as a full-time employee of RiseUp Malawi as Assistant Director.

I believe strongly in Hudson’s and Megan’s partnership and that God will advance the activities of RUM to reach many vulnerable youth with through education, livelihood and spiritual support. I am so very grateful to be a part of this team.
