“This group trip with RiseUp Malawi not only changed my whole perspective on life but it left me with a lingering inner peace that has stayed with me ever since. Seeing the kindness and hopefulness of Malawians impacted me deeply.””
RiseUp Malawi hosted it’s first EVER Group Venture Trip in May/June 2026. These are some of the special moments captured on that trip, and many more in the hearts of those who journeyed out to Malawi with us. We are headed back in April/May 2027 (specific dates TBD.) If you feel Malawi calling and would like to join us next year, please fill out our Interest Form below.

“I found many similarities between myself and Malawians. They crave the Lord’s blessings and seek him. I do too. We are brothers and sisters in the Lord and through Christ we come together. Fellowship is at the heart of RUM and the sharing of gifts. A truly beautiful encounter and experience.”
Group Trip Core Values:
VOLUNTEER
Our trip is a volunteer based trip in the spirit of serving others without pay. Volunteers are expected to cover all expenses associated with the trip with the exception of your stay at our guesthouse in which only meals will be charged.
EMBRACE
Malawi is a vibrant country with rich culture and stunning natural beauty. It is also the fourth poorest country in the world and it can often be shocking to see extreme poverty up close. This trip is designed for you to embrace the whole of Malawi, it’s nature and its people and for you to discover comfort in the uncomfortable. We expect all volunteers to readily engage with our children. This means hugging, high fiving, playing sports, praying, etc. where appropriate.
NOURISH
This trip at its core is about fostering relationships. When we expand our human to human interaction, especially with those that don’t look or speak like us, we nourish our souls in new ways and open pathways to new understanding.
TEACH
We all have skills we can share. On this trip you will be encouraged to lead small group sessions based on your skills sets and areas of expertise. This is not required, but you will be given the opportunity to share your knowledge with our children and their families in order to further educate and empower our community. You will also be surprised how much our kids may end up teaching you!
UNITE
Our trip offers a unique opportunity for cross cultural interaction. Volunteers will learn the language & customs of Malawi as well as gaining a greater understanding of their worldview
REFLECT
Nothing will change your life more than being on the ground in Malawi and getting to witness firsthand how the majority of the world lives. It’s our hope that during and after this trip you take the time to reflect on your blessings and how you can move forward serving and sharing these blessings with others.
EQUIP
After this trip you will be equipped with new knowledge and experiences that you can share with others and perhaps new skill sets you can bring into other areas of your life. You will also be equipped with new heart knowledge about the challenges and injustices of extreme poverty and what we can do to alleviate extreme poverty with the resources we have.
